Annual Conference 2007

The 19th Multiple District 105 Lioness Clubs Conference was held over the weekend of 16th – 18th February 2007 at the Marriott Hotel, Huntingdon.

Lionesses from around the Country gathered together throughout Friday afternoon and the hotel soon rang with the sound of laughter and greetings.

Lionesses, Lions, Partners and Guests soon discovered they didn’t know their left from their right when they joined in the buffet and barn dance on Friday evening but luckily the experienced caller managed to get everyone sorted out.

The Saturday business session proved to be an interesting day with speakers from Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF), The NHS and Barking Magistrates.

The Nominations and Resolutions provided a time for some healthy debate and the business day was rounded off with a presentation from Bill Pirie – a retired Chief Superintendent from Essex Police.

As always the Saturday night Dinner and Disco gave an opportunity for everyone to get on their glad rags and Lion Paul Murphy travelled down from Wolverhampton to provide the disco – Thank you Paul.

Sunday morning was presentation morning with the Scrapbook Trophy going to Northallerton Lionesses and the Photo Caption Competition to Deal Lioness Club.

The Free Draw for a place at next years Conference was won by Darlington Lioness Club with Malling as reserve.

As Past International Director (and Honorary Lioness) Phil Nathan had managed to fit the Conference into his busy schedule we asked him to address Conference and everyone was moved by the ‘Gift for Living’ video and update he kindly gave us.

Multiple District 105 Lioness Clubs Chairman Dorothy, had chosen ‘Everyman Cancer Institute’ as her Charity of the year and presented a cheque for £2,455.27 on behalf of the Multiple District Lionesses.

Conference was brought to a close in the usual manner with everyone joining in ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ and now we are all looking forward to Conference 2008 in Tunbridge Wells.
